Welcome to a refreshed format of “Satellite Sleuths: GPS Challenge #38.” With an exciting change to our scoring system, this series continues to evolve, offering more participants the chance to climb the ranks each round. Dive into this challenge, where your geographical skills could earn you up to three points based on your speed and accuracy.

The Challenge:

A new satellite image is set for your expert analysis. With no initial clues, your task is to determine the location it depicts as swiftly and accurately as possible.

Clues:

  • Day 1: None. Utilize your seasoned skills and keen observation to guide you through.
  • Clue 1: Southern Hemisphere.
  • Clue 2: I don’t think I’ve ever had a challenge here.
  • Clue 3: Native tongue is English in this country.
  • Clue 4: Eastern Hemisphere
  • Clue 5: Australia People!!! Australia!
  • Clue 6: Northern Australia.
  • Clue 7: Northern Territory
  • Clue 8: Sufferin’ succotash!

Rules:

  • Scoring System Update: Points are now awarded to the top three fastest correct answers—3 points for the first, 2 points for the second, and 1 point for the third.
  • No Initial Clues: Begin the challenge without any preliminary hints.
  • No Reverse Image Search: Ensure fair play by avoiding reverse image searches.
  • Accuracy and Speed: Both the correctness of your coordinates and the speed of your submission are crucial.
  • Valid Entries: Submissions are valid only through comments on the blog. The top three correct answers will be posted after the round closes.

How to Enter:

  1. Review the Image: Keep an eye on our blog for the satellite image release.
  2. Identify the Coordinates: Deploy your mapping skills to find the exact GPS coordinates.
  3. Post on the Blog:
    • Go to the ‘Satellite Sleuths’ contest page.
    • Leave your coordinates and name in the comments.
    • Click ‘Post Comment’ to submit your guess.
  4. Monitor the Results: The first three correct submissions will earn points, and the results will be visible once all three correct answers are in.
